Summer Serve: May 13th - September 2nd
Summer Serve is the opportunity to step into one of our weekend ministries to children just for the summer. As the school year comes to a close, many of the students who faithfully serve our church family will transition away from Denton for the summer break.
The Summer Serve session is May 13th - September 2nd. There are opportunities to serve at each Sunday service across a variety of age groups. Summer Serve is a great opportunity, especially for parents who might not be able to serve weekly during the school year. It might also be the perfect place for families or home groups to serve together.
All volunteers will complete an application and screening process, including a background check, short interview and training. Fill out a Next Gen Application to get started.
Summer Serve FAQ
Q: Do I have to be a Member to serve in Little Village or Kids Village?
A: Yes, to serve in any Next Generation Ministry, you must be a member. But if you haven’t had a chance to take or complete the Membership Class, you may still be eligible to serve.
Q: Can I still volunteer if I can not serve all of the weeks or already have a vacation planned?
A: Yes, of course. We understand there will be a week or two that you might miss. As long as you communicate that in advance, we can arrange for a sub to serve in your place.
Q: What if I do not have previous experience with kids but I desire to serve the church?
A: Previous experience with children is certainly helpful but is not necessarily a requirement to serve in either ministry. You will be stepping into a structured environment with a team of people who are ready to support you. It is necessary, however, to be a safe adult with a patient and warm temperament. Serving with children is a privilege and we want to make sure to set you (and them) up to win.
Q: How old do you have to be to serve in Little Village or Kids Village?
A: Classroom teachers must be 16 years or older to serve in Little Village without a parent. Children ages 12 and up may serve in along side of a parent in Little Village. Small Group Leaders in Kids Village must be 18 years old.
Volunteers on our Connections team are some of the first people our attendees come in contact with at weekend services. They serve at our church services every other week. They greet people before services, help people find seats, park cars and work in Connection Central.
Volunteers in our Preschool ministry (birth – K) get the opportunity to shepherd and care for our littlest ones during weekend worship services through singing, dancing and teaching the truth of God’s Word. They check in kids, lead classrooms, provide assistance to classroom teachers and care for babies and toddlers.
Volunteers in Kids Village minister to our 1st - 5th graders during weekend worship services through singing with the children, telling stories and teaching the truth of God's Word. They check in kids, lead classrooms, provide assistance to classroom teachers and sing or play in the worship band.
Middle School & High School
Volunteers in our Middle School and High School ministry get the opportunity to build and foster relationships with students, ministering them through the teaching of Scripture, worship and intentional discipleship. They check in students, greet students, set up events, lead small groups and sing or play on the worship team.
Volunteers in Home Groups and Restoration Groups lead groups in learning to obey God's word together. They oversee groups of 12-15 individuals, develop leaders, encourage non-members toward membership and encourage members to faithfulness.
Volunteers on our Facilities team serve behind the scenes. They take care of the church building and grounds and keep things looking and working great. They clean the church building, maintain the church grounds, prep for services and events, and help with landscaping, painting and taking out the trash.
Volunteers on the Production team keep things running smoothly during our weekend services and at events so that our attendees have a great experience meeting with the Lord and the church. They run the lighting and sound booth during services, put up slides for services and set up for services and events.
Volunteers on our Worship team use their gifts and abilities to minister to the church body through the expression of worship to the Lord through music. They lead worship at weekend services and other ministries and events throughout the week and sing or play an instrument in the worship band.
Volunteers on our Finance team serve the church behind the scenes in the area of giving and financial stewardship. They collect the offering after weekend worship services or they assist with counting the offering on Sunday nights. Due to the confidential nature of the role, applicants must be Covenant Members.
