As far as I can remember my parents had created an environment where the gospel was on display both in our home and in the church that we were connected to. I can remember participating in Sunday school where my foundation and understanding of who God is was solidified. At 8 years of age I came to realize that I identified with Romans 3:23 “that all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God” I was a sinner and in need of God’s saving grace. After hearing the gospel, I responded by trusting Christ with my life. Following that day, I was enrolled in our baptism class and baptized a few weeks later by my dad. I continued to grow in my love and understanding of the Lord and upon graduation from The University of Georgia I responded in faith to the call to ministry I believe the Lord placed on my life. As an act of obedience, I moved from Georgia to Dallas, Texas to attend Dallas Theological Seminary in pursuit of a Master of Theology.
Towards the end of my time in seminary I met Kimberly Smith who the Lord was so gracious to allow me to marry. I completed my studies at Dallas Theological Seminary in 2016 and married Kim in 2017. The Lord placed a burden on my heart for seeking unity in the midst of diversity and through much prayer the Lord drew my heart to the Village Church Denton. In all the churches that I have had the privilege of being a part of I have not seen a community of believers more committed to love, service, and unity within the body like this church. As I continue to grow I pray that the Lord would as David writes in Psalm 139:23-24 “to search me on God and know my heart, try me and know my anxious thoughts, see if there is any grievous way in me and lead me in the everlasting way”
I am so grateful for this church and consider it a joy and privilege to serve you!
