Show Statement
You’ve heard it said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Our fall exhibition at TVCD explores this idea by juxtaposing two often-underrepresented mediums: Photography and Poetry. Each set of works in the show has been intentionally paired by the Art Team to inspire unexpected connection, meditation, contrast, and an enriched experience for the viewer to deepen their understanding of life, of beauty, and of art. This exhibition presents an invitation to respond to the world through the lens of Christian creatives in our church. Whether you find the words of our members speaking “to the heart as well as the head” (Malcom Guite) or learn to see the world photographically, “discovering beauty in what everybody sees but neglects as too ordinary”(Susan Sontag), our hope is that you are able to engage with the work in challenging ways.
