Lent

The Season of Lent | 2025

Lent is a forty-day season of repentance, prayer, and fasting that leads to Easter. Commemorating Christ’s temptation in the wilderness, we remember Christ’s sufferings and our sinfulness. Lent culminates in Holy Week-Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday before celebrating Christ’s resurrection on Easter.

We invite you to participate in Lent through our Ash Wednesday service, weekly prayer services, and Holy Week services.

Lent Gatherings

Sunday Gatherings

Lent is a season of fasting, but Sundays have always been set apart as days of feasting. Each week, we’ll gather to worship Jesus and step into the tension of sorrow and hope. This Lent, our sermon series will be through the book of Lamentations as we learn to hope in God together.

  • Date: Sundays, March 9 – April 13
  • Times: 8:45 am or 11 am

Ash Wednesday Service

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal as we prepare our hearts for Easter. Join us for a service that invites us to acknowledge our need for God’s grace and turn our hearts toward Him.

Childcare is available for children ages six months through kindergarten.

  • Date: Wednesday, March 5
  • Time: 6:30 PM

Noon Prayer Services

In these services, our hope is to practice the habits of prayer, fasting, and silence as we turn from our sin, deepen our understanding of our union with Christ and remember that our life comes through His death. Childcare is available for children ages six months through kindergarten.

  • Dates: Wednesdays, March 12 – April 9
  • Time: 12:00 PM

Lent Lunch for Preschoolers

Parents of preschoolers, join us for a children’s meal before Noon Prayer Services each Wednesday. We’ll gather at 11:15 am to feed the kids before childcare check-in. While adults are invited to fast, our hope is this meal helps parents attend service while meeting their child’s needs. Come even if you can’t stay the whole time or your child isn’t eating solids yet! Contact Alyssa Moore for details.

Weekly Service Guides

Each week we will post the service order and a playlist of songs from these services.

Week One – March 12, 2025
Week Two – March 19, 2025

Maundy Thursday Service

The Thursday before Easter is known as either Maundy Thursday.  Maundy is derived from the Latin word for “command,” and refers to Jesus’ commandment to the disciples to “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Childcare is available for children ages six months through kindergarten.

  • Date: Thursday, April 17
  • Time: 12:00 PM

Good Friday Service

Good Friday service to focus our hearts and minds on the death of Jesus Christ before His glorious resurrection on Easter. The reality of His sorrow and pain are an important part of the greater story of the gospel.

Childcare is available for children birth through kindergarten.

  • Date: Friday, April 18
  • Time: 6:30 PM

Lent Food Drive

This Lent, join us in sharing Christ’s love with our neighbors in need. We are collecting non-perishable food items to support First Refuge Ministries, providing essential resources to families facing food insecurity.

How You Can Help:
Donate: Bring non-perishable food items to the church building from March 2 to April 18.

Fast & Give: Our church is fasting from lunch together on Wednesdays—consider using the money saved to purchase donation items.

Most Needed Items:

  • Canned Goods (vegetables, beans, soups, meats, fruit)
  • Dry Goods (rice, pasta, cereal, flour, sugar)
  • Shelf-Stable Items (peanut butter, cooking oil, boxed meals, baby formula)
Lent Playlist

Curated by our music ministry, this Lent playlist features songs that will guide you through the season of reflection, repentance, and anticipation of Easter. Many of these songs will be sung during our Sunday services and Wednesday prayer gatherings.

We encourage you to listen and enter into the spirit of Lent, allowing these songs to deepen your connection to God as we journey together toward the resurrection. The playlist is available on Spotify.

Practicing Lament Cohort

Thursdays, March 13 – April 3, 7:00 pm-8:30 pm

One-third of the Psalms are lament, but we often shy away from this raw, honest practice. We miss out on the deep healing it offers. This Lent, we invite you to step into the rhythm of lament—to bring your grief, disappointment, and pain before God.

For four Thursdays, we’ll experience Biblical lament together, then give space to uncover our own hurts and losses as we write a personal lament to God and go to the God who comforts.

This cohort is limited to 17 people. Please register below.

Stations of the Cross/Stations of the Resurrection Art Show

This spring, we invite you to walk through the Stations of the Cross and the Stations of the Resurrection, an opportunity to follow the story of Christ from Lent into Easter. This experience combines guided meditation with reflections at various “stations” of artwork and accompanying readings, arranged throughout the gallery and surrounding areas.

As you journey through these stations, you will reflect on the story of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection.
