Deaconess, On Sabbatical

I grew up in a strong Christian home and was called to the Lord at age nine. My formative years were immersed in ministry and spiritual growth, and I felt called to full-time ministry at age 17. In college, I met my husband and began working with youth. During that time I recognized a desire to counsel and equip others for growth in Christ and recovery from life struggles. I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1999 and taught for seven years, but I continued to study counseling throughout.

I joined The Village Church staff in February 2010 as the financial assistance coordinator in the Missions department. As a result, my heart became even more burdened for the poor and struggling in our community. In August 2010 I moved to the Denton campus to assist with Spiritual Formation and Financial Assistance ministries. I completed my master’s degree in professional counseling that same year, and I began to plug into ministries at The Village in which I could utilize what I learned. My heart is to offer the hope that Christ alone can give through all the avenues in which the Lord places me, whether that be administrative work, counseling or teaching.

I live in Denton with my husband, Kenny, and our three children, Sarah, Levi and Elijah. We are so blessed to be a part of The Village Church and what God is doing here. This is our home.
