Ian D’Rubio

Facilities Manager

I grew up the youngest of 5 in a small town about an hour southwest of Houston, TX. My family and I had always attended church but only heard that by pursuing the law, I could attain righteousness. I said I was a Christian, but I tried to honor God with my actions and with my lips but my heart was far from God.

As time passed, I graduated High School and enlisted in the Air Force. I had continued to strive after my desires and the passions of my flesh. My heart began to harden towards God; I began to outwardly reflect the inward reality that I was opposed to God. I felt that I was not seen by anyone and that my life was meaningless.

After my time in the Military, God had called me to move to Denton, TX. I still felt out of place and lonely. I started attending the Village Church Denton in January 2020 to attend with my sister and brother-in-law. Through God’s goodness and mercy, I began to see myself as a sinner in desperate need of a Savior, and that God had crushed his spotless sinless lamb as a guilt offering for me. God began to introduce to me loving brothers like WC Garrett and Roy Onyebetor to help disciple me and get me involved with the church. God has been so gracious, loving, and faithful to me even when I was at odds with Him.

He has blessed me with my beautiful wife, Morgan, as well as brothers and sisters who encourage me toward Christ.
